Oh boy this looks classic, and it's all about dungeons! Classic...dungeon...I see what's going on here! CLADUN x2 is the amazing sequel to the first game CLADUN: This is an RPG.
CLADUN x2 is a dungeon crawler action RPG. Welcome to Arcanus Cella, a mysterious world where, well, you're gonna be trapped here so here's a sword and shield and fight in the different dungeon floors to pass the time away. Visuals and audio wise, the game is indeed classic, bringing back the retro pixel look from the 8 bit era of gaming. Though the looks seems old, the gameplay is far from it. The feel of the game is extremely fluid, though at times you have those old RPG problems, i.e. no 8-way running. That never stopped anyone though.
Going through the stages, the audio is definitely something to behold. Whether you're listening to the "Real" or "Retro" version, the music links up great with the mood of the stage and game itself. Now let's get into the real stuff, the gameplay.
ClaDun x2 has the player create the character and put them in the world of Arcanus Cella. Like a MMO you create the features of your character and give them a class and personality. A lot of the humor factor comes in from the personality and the story overall, not just from your created character but from the NPCs as well. Now this won't be a classic dungeon RPG without a party right? Just how you create your main character, you can create your party. I had a bit of fun with this and may have got a little carried away, but hey, the more the merrier right!
The party itself isn't playable, they are the literal means of support and I like that idea. They take hits for you and help your stats, skills, and etc; nice feature! It's different but it didn't alienate because it keeps to the action style of the game.
ClaDun x2 is a game that's easy to pick up, easy to play and passes the time like no other. It's got features and brings that pizzazz to a classic genre. The game is definitely not a waste and keeps the fun for hours on end. I spent 9 of mine the first day, uh huh uh huh. Blac Tape TV gives this game an outstanding 9 out of 10! Definitely a title to play over and over!
